Pandemonium on Sunday struck at Otu-Jeremi (Otughievwen) in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State when a law undergraduate, Mr Kenneth Lupor Mukoro reportedly hit a woman to death.
The incident occurred at about 6:30pm at Aruorho Quarters of Otu-Jeremi, traditional/administrative headquarters of Ughievwen Kingdom and Ughelli South.
NIGER DELTA TODAY gathered that the incident took place when the deceased was making peace during a disagreement between the suspect and his neighbour.
The deceased, Mrs Irene Thompson Kupa, hailed from Isoko area of the state.
While trying to mediate between Kenneth who is also a youth pastor at the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) and his neighbour, the suspect hit the deceased on the head with a wood.
The deceased who was rushed to the Otu-Jeremi General Hospital before being referred to another hospital in Warri reportedly gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital.
Police operatives at the Otu-Jeremi Divisional Police Station were said to have apprehended the Mr Kenneth who is said to be warming up to contest the forthcoming chairmanship election of Otughievwen community.
When contacted on Monday, the state commissioner of police, Mr Adeyinka Adeleke, confirmed the incident.
Adeleke, however, could not confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
But sources at the Ughelli Police Area Command confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
