The Delta State government has reacted to the collapsed scoreboard at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo inaugurated the stadium three months ago following which it hosted its first international football match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Cranes of Uganda.

The State Commissioner of Information, Chief Patrick Ukah, spoke on Tuesday while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Ukah said the scoreboard collapsed following a heavy wind on Monday as predicted by NiMet for Nigeria.

He was, however, silent on whether the state government would probe the quality of job done by the contractor who handled the project.

The commissioner also disclosed that the collapsed scoreboard also destroyed part of the stadium saying that the incident was receiving necessary attention.

Ukah expressed appreciation to God that no life was lost during the mishap.
