Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has explained why he reduced civil servants’ N35,000 wage award to N15,000.
Governor Aiyedatiwa said the reduction was to enable his administration gets enough resources to pay the wage award for workers of the tertiary institutions.
Aiyedatiwa, who spoke in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the reduction followed approval of the payment of N35,000 monthly wage award to workers of state-owned tertiary institutions.
The statement said the payment of the wage award would run for six months
Aiyedatiwa said he approved the wage award for tertiary institution workers after last week’s meeting with the heads of tertiary institutions and leaders of the workers of the institutions
He said the inability of the tertiary institutions to pay the award from their subvention necessitated his intervention.
Pensioners in the state, according to the statement, were still receiving N10,000 monthly wage award.
