Why Gov Ortom’s Chief Of Staff, Four Commissioners Resigned Their Appointments

Chief of Staff to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Pastor Terwase Orbunde, has resigned his appointment.

Four serving commissioners also resigned from the Benue State Executive Council.

The commissioners who resigned are Commissioners for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Ngunan Addingi; Environment and Water Resources, Engr Dondo Ahire; Education, Professor Dennis Ityavyar and that of Youth and Sports, Comrade Ojemba Ojotu.

It was gathered that the politicians tendered their resignation on Thursday in Makurdi, the state capital.

According to sources within the Benue Government House said the former appointees indicated interest to contest for various elective positions in the 2023 general elections in the state.

One of the sources revealed that the politicians in their resignation letters stated that their decision is to enable them face their 2023 political ambitions.

Ortom’s former Chief of Staff, Orbunde, Engr. Dongo Ahire and Prof Ityavyar have indicated interest to contest for the governorship seat of the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Similarly, the information (Mrs. Ngunan) and Youth and Sports (Ojotu) commissioners will contest for House of Representatives.

The former appointees confirmed their resignation separately to newsmen in Makurdi.
