The General-Overseer of Hilltop Believers Assembly, Apostle (Dr.) Alfred Tseye-Okotie, has urged Christians to seek elective offices.

The GO said that seeking government offices is part of God’s mandate to Christians.

Speaking in Warri Delta state, during the 2019 Mighty Warrior International Conference of the church which was themed ‘God will do a new thing,’ the pastor noted that things will be better for Christians, with more of them at the helm of affairs.

He explained that it was ignorance in the past that discouraged Christians from actively participating in electoral processes, believing them to be worldly.

However, he wondered why Christians fail to vote for fellow believers, adding that a change from that direction will be a welcomed development.

“Christianity does not have to do with just spirituality. We are involved in the government when God gave Adam his mandate to rule. The word rule means administration, government.

“It’s just that we were made to believe that once you are a Christian, you are not supposed to be involved in the world. That’s where we failed.

“I begin to have a problem with the Christian Church today, if you bring a Christian candidate, Christians won’t vote for them. Muslims will vote for their own kind. And the truth is that the man in power controls everything.

“If the church begins to understand that truth, that the man in power controls everything, then we begin to push our people up there. Thank God this new government we have so much moved. I have a pastor friend who is in the house of reps. If we have people there who have Christian beliefs and ideas, it will be better for us,” Apostle Tseye-Okotie stated.
