The immediate past President of the Nigerian Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, says the eight assembly did not confirmed the nomination of some appointees of the President Muhammadu Buhari wholly on “national interest.”
Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, stated this on Wednesday on his verified twitter handle.
He said the National Assembly under his leadership carried out due diligence on appointees before their nomination were confirmed.
The 13th President of the Senate from 2015-2019 hinted that it was the “due diligence” that led them to turn down such confirmation.
“When we didn’t confirm certain appointees, it was because we did our due diligence.

“When we invited the IGP & the security chiefs, it was because we wanted to find solutions to the issues of insecurity at the time”, the former PDP Presidential aspirant stated.
The former Senate President added that such decisions were never for personal fight but on the interest of the country.
“It was never about a personal agenda. It was always about Nigeria!
“The positions we adopted, and the interventions that we embarked on were in the interest of the nation.” he said.
