What Omo-Agege told WARRI TODAY after he won Delta Central Senate seat

An elated incumbent Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who won last Saturday’s National Assembly election to represent Delta Central Senatorial District t at the Senate has told WARRI TODAY what he would do differently at the 9th Senate.

INEC had Monday announced Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the National Assembly election for Delta Central.

Omo-Agege, who polled 111,100 votes to defeated the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Evelyn Oboro, is the first senator to be re-elected to the senate from Delta Central.

Oboro, who presently represent Uvwie, Okpe and Sapele Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, polled 99,422 votes.

Prof Godfrey Ariavie of the University of Benin, who is the Returning Officer, announced the results.

Omo-Agege won with a margin of 11,678 votes.

The lawmaker tolf WARRI TODAY exclusively immediately after winning that he would never let the Urhobo Nation down.

According to him, “Well, just to convey my gratitude to the entire Urhobo electorate for the confidence reposed on me through the ballot by sending me back despite all of the conspiracies by those who are opposed to my aspiration, but I am glad that, notwithstanding, all of the dirty and negative campaign against me the people saw through of that and graciously returned me for a second term.

“The only obligation I owe them right now is to give them (Delta Central) my very best. As usual, the Urhobo voice would be heard in the senate and at the federal level in Abuja. Anyone can take this to the bank. Urhobo all over the world would be proud of me.

“For sure, I am going back as a ranking senator. I am not going to be a back bencher or bench warmer.  We are going to be heard and decisions will not be taken without us.

“Urhobo people can be rest assured that their interest would be protected at all times. Anything I have done in the senate has always been based on its benefit to the Urhobo Nation and, this time around is not going to be any different.”
