Unknown Gunmen Assassinate Father Of Four In Delta

Gunmen suspected to be hired assassins have reportedly murdered a middle-aged man in Iwhrekpokpor area of Ughelli, headquarters of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The deceased simply identified as Mr Believe popularly known as Gaman was shot repeatedly by the now fleeing hoodlums.

One of his children was said to have witnessed the gruesome murder of his father as residents scampered for safety during the attack.

The incident occurred on Friday evening along the Iwhrekpokpor Road near Imoniyame Junction.

Sources said the gunmen reportedly traced the victim to the scene of incident and shot him while reversing his car to park in front of his wife shop.

The gunmen numbering two fled the scene after ensuring that their target had given up the ghost.

“The gunmen fled immediately after killing him. They didn’t collect anything from the car. They ensured that he died before they left”, a resident of the area confided on our correspondent on Saturday.

It was gathered that the deceased, who was embroiled in a land tussle with some undisclosed persons leading to his arrest on Thursday, was also a local politician in the town before he met his untimely death.

One of our sources, however, alleged that the deceased could have been killed by suspected cultists who are in rivalry in Ughelli.

A police source in Ughelli confirmed the sad incident, saying that investigation to ascertain the cause of the killing had commenced.

But when contacted State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said the command had not been informed of the incident.
