A meeting of the University of Port Harcourt chapter of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) was on Wednesday invaded by students of the institution led by the leadership of the school’s Students Union Government (SUG).

The students who stormed the venue of the meeting kicked against proposed strike by members of ASUU over the Integrated Payment and Personnel Information System ( IPPIS).

The ASUU members had met to deliberate and address the press on the issues of the IPPIS when the SUG leadership disrupted the meeting.

The students who came in solidarity and placards bearing, ‘Say No to Alteration of Our Academic Calendar’, ‘Let 4 years be 4 years, let 5 years be 5years, ‘We don’t need ASUU Strike’, and others, had around 10:30, about 30 minutes into the meeting and stopped the proceedings of the body.
