The United Nations Development Partners (UNDP) in Nigeria has agreed to attend the forthcoming 10th Annual Conference of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
UNDP’s Lead for Governance and Peace Building, Mr. Matthew Alao, stated this when the National Coordinator of CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade visited UNDP office in Abuja on Thursday.
CEPEJ, a non-governmental organisation, during the visit called on the agency to continually support the development needs of the country.
Mulade, who spoke on behalf of the group, thanked UNDP for its continued support towards the development of Nigeria, CSOs as well as for identifying with CEPEJ’s activities across the nation, and likely areas of partnership with the UNDP.
However, Mr. Alao, while responding, commended CEPEJ for its commitment towards a safer environment across the country, saying the agency would continue to explore area of partnership.
He added that as part of its commitment and support, UNDP would be represented at the upcoming CEPEJ’s 10th annual conference in Abuja
The UNDP’s Lead for Governance and Peace Building urged CEPEJ to continue to work on integrity as this will pave the way for the organization even without reference to previous working relations.
He advised the NGO to continue to partner with development and peace building institutions such as the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution and others.
