Two Killed As Gunmen Abduct Ex-Delta Commissioner In Asaba

The immediate past Commissioner for Technical Education in Delta State, Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, has been reportedly been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Asaba, the state capital.

 

Onyemaechi, a former member of the House of Representatives, was abducted from her church premises on Tuesday evening.

 

Two persons including a police orderly attached to the former lawmaker were shot dead by the gunmen during the attack.

 

One of the deceased was a passer-by hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot.

 

It was gathered another police orderly and the politician’s driver also sustained gunshots injuries.

 

Sources told NIGER DELTA TODAY Online learned that the kidnappers stormed her church, King Jesus and I Church, along the popular DSB Road shooting sporadically and causing apprehension.

 

The former commissioner was whisked away in her SUV vehicle amidst heavy shooting.

 

Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the abduction of the politician.

Edafe said two persons including a policeman were killed in the incident, adding that it was only the former lawmaker that was kidnapped.
