Travellers leaving Yenagoa the Bayesa State capital and those plying Bayelsa section of the East West Road are currently stranded as supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) locked all routes leading to the state to traffic over Thursday’s Supreme Court Judgement which sacked Chief David Lyon as Governor-elect.
NIGER DELTA TODAY Online can report that the protesters have set bonfire at the foot of the Kaiama Bridge making it impossible for commuters to move through the section.

The situation has resulted in a gridlock stretching from the protest point through the Kaiama Bridge where no vehicle is able to move at the time of filing report.
It was learnt that Yenagoa the capital city of Bayelsa is also locked to traffic as APC protesters have also blocked major roads preventing people to move in and out of the city.
A God Is Good Motor driver told our correspondent that “I left on a journey from Yenagoa as early as 6am only to discover that at Tombia Roundabout APC protesters have blocked the road. I had to meander through some difficulty streets roads to get out of the city.
“I’m already getting feelers that it is now impossible to leave Yenagoa now. Getting to Kaiama Bridge I have met another set of protesters who have locked down the East-West Road. I don’t know when we’ll get out of this spot.”

It was further that both military and police operatives have stormed the scene trying to control traffic but had been met with resistance from the protesters.
