Three Killed In Cult Attacks In Delta Community

At least, three persons have been gruesomely murdered at Obiaruku community in the Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.

The victims were separately killed between Sunday to Tuesday morning in cult related attacks in the community.

It was gathered that the deceased were attacked in their homes by their assailants and shot dead in similar manner.

Two of the victims were killed between Sunday night and Monday morning while the third victim was shot dead in his house on Tuesday morning.

The attacks are coming despite the curfew imposed on the community and its environs by the government.

Sources disclosed that though the police and vigilant groups have been trying to curtail the activities of the cultists, they hoodlums now sneaked out to attack their targets in their homes.

A civil servant with Ukwuan LGA Council, who confirmed the killing to our correspondent on Tuesday on condition of anonymity for fear of being attacked, said residents and business owners were now living in fears.

One of the victims popularly known as Erosion was said to have been shot dead in his home at Umusume Quarter of the community.

The third victim was murdered in his home in the early hours of Tuesday inside his apartment along the Hospital Road area of the community.

Multiple sources confirmed that the attacks were carried out by cult groups of ‘Aiye’ and ‘Eiye’ confraternities who are fighting for supremacy.

The General Commandant of the Viligante Group of Nigeria (VGN) Obiaruku, Mr. Azubike Oriaku, confirmed the killings.

Oriaku said though the police and members of VGN were on top of their game, some cultists still carry out pockets of attacks leading to the death of the victims.

He said VGN in collaboration with the men of the Nigeria Police Force are resolute to flush criminal elements from the community.
