Police in Ebonyi State on Tuesday confirmed the death of three family members while asleep in Ngwogwo community Ishiagu, Ivo local government area of the state.
The family members are Chinonso Udigwe, Ikedi Okorie, and Emperor Kalu.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Ebonyi.
Odah explained that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ivo Local Government Area rushed to the scene and evacuated the victims to hospital where three were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The police imagemaker said the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in a mortuary for autopsy.
She added operatives have taken a sample from a pot of soup found in the room where the incident occurred.
She further added that a can of malt and generating set found in the apartment had been taken for forensic analysis.

“They were taken to the hospital. On getting to the general hospital in the area, three were confirmed dead while the truck driver was still conscious. The corpses of the deceased had been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
“Policemen noticed a pot of soup and collected a little of it for forensic analysis. A generator was also noticed and also a beta malt can and the policemen collected all that to unravel the cause of death”, she said.
She stated that the Commissioner of Police in the State has ordered full-scale investigations into the matter.
Our correspondent reports that there was chaos in Ngwongwo community following the death of the three family members in the area while asleep.
Reports have it that a truck driver was also found in a separate room lying critically and has been rushed to hospital for medical attention.
