Tension has gripped residents of the polytechnic community of Ozoro as a protesting youth was allegedly shot dead on Monday morning.
The deceased was alleged to have been shot by a yet-to-be identified policeman attached to Ozoro Police Division in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was alleged that hundreds of youths were protesting around the popular Alla Square in Ozoro when the incident happened.

The deceased was confirmed dead at a nearby hospital where he was rushed.
Sources in the community told NIGER DELTA TODAY (NDT) Online that the late youth was among the youths who were protesting alleged police intimidation and harassment in the community.
The incident happened at about 9am when one of the policemen drafted to maintain peace during the peaceful protest opened trigger on the deceased.
The deceased was said to have been shot on the head.
The alleged killing has resulted in riot in Ozoro, the host community to one of the three Delta State Polytechnics.
It gathered that there was rampage in the community as the youths attempted to burn the Ozoro police station.

They protesters demanded that the irate police officer responsible for the killing of the youth is released to them.
The protesters were also alleged to have set motorcycles on fire after the alleged killings.
More security operatives have been drafted to the community to quell the rising tension.
The protesters during the protest had accused security personnel especially the police of alleged brutality and illegal arrest as well as using POS to extorting money from suspects.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the shooting of the boy, but denied that the deceased was shot by a police officer.
She stated that a top police officer had been deplored to Ozoro to investigate the incident.
