Police in Delta state have confirmed the killing of Sylvester Adjogbe, younger brother to former NDDC Executive Director of Project, Samuel Adjogbe in Evwreni, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon when the gunmen invaded the volatile community following arrest of another suspect by in the continuing investigation of attempted assassination of the former NDDC Project Director, three weeks back.
Public Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the incident, said, “The place is calm now. Somebody died, and one has been arrested on suspect with gun.”
A source prominent in the community noted that the killers were known faces in the community allegedly linked with the earlier attempt at the life of Adjogbe in lingering communal crisis.
The source narrated, “You know they almost assassinated Engr Adjogbe three weeks ago. Under investigation, some persons confirmed that they were being offered money to kill Adjogbe.
“So, they arrested one last week and today they arrested one at Evwreni. As soon as they heard the arrest of their main man, the armed gang now entered Evwreni, shooting and killing Sylvester, the last of the Adjogbe siblings hours ago. Many persons were seriously injured.
