Tension on Sunday gripped residents of Uzere Community in the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State following renewed hostilities by supporters of the two crowned traditional rulers of Uzere Kingdom.
Scores of persons not fewer than 15 were alleged to have sustained various degrees of injuries from both factions.
Uzere, an oil-rich community of Isoko, had been embroiled in lingering crisis over the traditional ruler tussle that has been engulfing the community.
It was learnt that Sunday’s attack was in a bid by one of the factions to dethrone one of the kings, a situation, that resulted in sporadic shooting by youths loyal to the two kings.

Six of the victims were said to have sustained life threatening gunshot injuries during the clash.
About eight persons were also matcheted, NIGER DELTA TODAY Online reliably learnt.
Following the renewed hostility, the State Government was said to have summoned an emergency meeting between leaders of the two factions in the community to resolve the crisis.
A source confirmed to our correspondent on Monday that the peace meeting would hold at the Isoko South Council Secretariat in Oleh on Tuesday.
The President General of Isoko apex social cultural umbrella body, Isoko Development Union (IDU), High Chief Iduh Amadhe confirmed Sunday’s attack when contacted.
Also confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said scores of persons were injured in the crisis.
Onovwakpoyeya, however, said the state police command had restored calm to the troubled community as at on Monday.
