The BEDC Electricity PLC on Thursday announced that Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has started planned rehabilitation and maintenance works on Delta/ Effurun 132kv line in Delta State.
BEDC said the repair works which will last for a month will result in power outage in areas connected to the line between hours 8am to 6pm daily.
According to a statement titled “Planned Outage On Delta-Effurun 33kv Line”, BEDC regretted the inconveniences the development would cost her customers in the franchise state of Delta.
By the development, several communities including Effurun and parts of Warri would be affected during ongoing works.
“This is to inform our esteemed customers that we have commenced the planned power outage requested by Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to enable their team of engineers and contractor carry out rehabilitation and maintenance of the Delta/ Effurun 132kv line.
“Date: 5th April -4th May 2022. Time: 08:00-18:00 hrs, daily.
“This will affect supply of electricity to the affected areas: Sapele Rd, Pti Rd, Airport Rd, Our Lady And Environs, Part Of Osubi, Ogbomorun, Otokutu, Orhuwhorun, Okpaka, Ukpelogo, Ebrumede, Ekete, Commissioner Rd, PTI School, Jedo, Express, Ubeji, Ifiekporo, Refinery Rd, NPA Express Rd and Its Environs, Jamogha, Mix &Bake, Ebo, Edjeba, Ugboroke, H/Complex, Sapele Rd, Effurun Sapele Rd and its environs, Ogunu, GRA, Ekurede-Itsekiri, Main Market, Hausa Qtrs, Upper Erejuwa and environ.
“We regret all inconveniences this would cause our electricity customers in these affected areas”, it stated.
This is really sad in view of the long ongoing fuel crisis/hike, now this. The report ought to also state the fact that for the said period of power outage, BEDC will not bill it’s customers, because you cannot pay for electricity that was “out” and thus not consumed. However, it is my suggestion that for the “very limited power supply” as stated from 6pm to 8AM on daily basis, billing should be drastically reduced.
I hope BEDC will also note that bills will not be distributed to customers that are affected.
