Suspected Ritualists Strike Again In Delta, Behead Girl In Ozoro

The police in Delta State have recovered the decomposing corpse of a young lady reportedly beheaded by unknown suspected ritualists in Ozoro community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the unidentified young lady had earlier been declared missing before her corpse without her head was seen on Sunday.

Ozoro is the hometown of the Delta State Polytechnic now converted to Delta State University of Technology and administrative headquarter of Isoko North.

On January 2018, a female student of the Polytechnic simply identified as Happiness was also reportedly killed in a similar manner with her private and other vital body parts removed by suspected ritualists.

However, in the latest case, it was gathered that the corpse was found Sunday afternoon in an uncompleted building in the community.

It was not clear if the deceased was a student of the polytechnic but it was learnt that the young lady hailed from the community.

Sources in the locality told NIGER DELTA TODAY (NDT) Online that the victim was said to have been declared missing by her family before her corpse was recovered.

Our correspondent further learnt that the deceased believed to be in her early twenties left her home on Friday afternoon and she was not seen by family members thereafter. Her phone was also said not to be connecting.

Residents of the area believed the female victim might have been killed for ritual purpose.

The acting Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident on Monday.

“It is confirmed. The Police is doing their best to see if those people (suspects) can be arrested.

“The corpse of a lady was found with her head chopped off and her blood, drained. They (suspects) went with her head and the blood”, the police spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, the incident was said to have caused panic in the polytechnic community as residents and students were still in shock over the development.
