The Executive Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr. Michael Tidi, has issued a strong warning to members of the Revenue Committees of the council over issuance of demand notices to traders and residents of the oil city.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the council chairman says no approval has been given to revenue committees for 2019 for revenue collection.
Tidi, who was reacting to speculations on the activities of unapproved revenue agents, advised residents of Warri to ignore the illegal demand notices, pending when the council gives such order.
The council chairman said the names of the revenue committees for 2019 would be published once the council approved the committee.
He stressed that the operations of the 2018 revenue sub-committees have since elapsed in line with the stipulated terms.
According to the statement, “…advised residents of Warri to ignore the illegal demand notices, pending when the executive of Warri South Local Government Council will approve new revenue committees for 2019 soonest and subsequently publish same.”
