Solidstar Returns With New Song, Speaks On ‘Battling Mental Health Illness’

Joshua Inyezo, popularly known as Solidstar, has returned to the Nigerian music scene with a new single after battling mental health which kept him from public eyes for about a year.

 

Solidstar, however, vowed to advocate for mental health awareness going forward, thanked Nigerians and his fans worldwide for their unwavering support during his ‘darkest hour’.

 

The ‘One In A Million’ crooner has been out of the music scene after his brother, Joseph, revealed that the singer was battling mental health issues owing to excessive intake of drugs.

 

Joseph had blamed the development on the musician being worried “by his declining music career” .

 

However, Solidstar in a statement on his verified Instagram handle on Sunday, expressed gratitude to God for his return.

 

The Isoko-born hit maker also announced the release of his latest body of work titled “Sonto”, adding that the song is a piece of his heart.

According to him, “It’s been a journey—one filled with highs and lows, triumphs and tribulations. Today, I release “SONTO,” a piece of my heart poured into every beat and lyric.

 

“I want to take this moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who stood by me during my darkest hour. Your unwavering support, whether through a message, a call, or a silent prayer, meant more to me than words can convey.

 

“To my fans, friends, and family: thank you for never giving up on me, even when I struggled to hold onto myself. Your love has been my guiding light, leading me out of the shadows and into the warmth of healing.

 

“I also want to extend a heartfelt apology to anyone I may have unintentionally hurt or offended along the way. I am far from perfect, but I am committed to growth, empathy, and understanding. Please forgive me, in your own time and in your own way.

Solidstar, also fondly called Shaba, who hails from Aviara in Isoko, Delta State, came into limelight following the released his debut album One in a Million in 2010 featuring 2Face which went on to become a huge hit across Africa and beyond.

 

The singer has featured in songs with the legendary musician, 2Baba; world global star, Davido; Patoranking, Flavour and a host of other A-list musicians in the country.
