An early morning inferno on Saturday reportedly gutted a section of the popular Igbudu Market in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

NIGER DELTA TODAY Online gathered some shops at the market were destroyed during the fire outbreak.

Sources at the market disclosed that the fire was caused by an electrical fault in one of the shops which resulted in the fire.

The incident occurred along the popular Okrika section of the market at about 7am.

Traders who had just resumed for morning market were said have noticed smoke in one of the shops which prompted them to raise alarm and mobilised to put off the inferno.

One of sources claimed that the fire was put off 45 minutes later through the efforts of traders and other sympathisers who rushed to the scene of the incident.

Another source narrated that two shops were completely razed while few others were partially touched.

It was learnt that several goods were destroyed in the process.

When our correspondent visited the scene of the fire, owners of the shops, were seen wailing over their lost.
