Arms-wielding soldiers have reportedly invaded the home of His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Tom, the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, Okirika Local Government Area of Rivers State.
One person was reportedly feared killed during the incident which occurred on Thursday barely two days to the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers.
It was learnt that five persons were also arrested during the raid by the soldiers.
The arrested persons were believed to guests who were on a visit to the traditional ruler.
Sources at the palace claimed that three dogs belonging to the Ateke Tom were also killed while all security cameras installed at the palace vandalized.
A media aide to the traditional ruler, Mr Tamuno Peters, confirmed the alleged invasion, saying that the military men also wade away with the remains of the deceased.
According to him, “This afternoon, military men in over 20 vans invaded the home of King Ateke Tom, without any information. They killed a youth and carried his dead body. They killed three dogs because they were barking at them.
“The Army men also destroyed all the security cameras at the home of King Ateke. They entered the camera room and destroyed everything so that they will not be recorded.
“They went to the quest quarters and arrested five persons for no just cause. They carted away money from the room of his Majesty.”
However, the Nigerian Army in Rivers State is yet to officially reacted to the development as at the time of filing this report.
