Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Effurun branch has elected new executives with Comrade Andrew Onofere as its Chairman.
Comrade Onofere before the election was the Association’s Public Relations Officer (PRO).
At the recently concluded 6th Triennial Branch Delegate Conference held at the PTI Lecture Theatre in Effurun, Delta State, Comrade Onofere defeated Comrades Abdulfatai Kazeem, the immediate past Industrial Relations Officer (IRO) and Solomon Ubong with 102 votes in a keenly contested election.
Also elected were Comrades Charles C. Alaukwu as Vice Chairman, Bright I. Igwe as Industrial Relations Officer, Blessing Okpapi Ekpe as Secretary General and Johanna P. Orok as Treasurer.
Others are: Comrades Stephen E. Evwwaraye as Financial Secretary, Zaji M. Abubakar as Assistant Secretary; Prince Denise Uvo as Public Relations Officer, Lamalas Magdalene as PENGASSAN Women Commission while the position of Auditor went to Comrade Bolokor Efe Ufuoma.
The poll was monitored and supervised by the staff and Executives of PENGASSAN, Warri Zone.
The elected officials were immediately sworn in by the Warri Zonal Chairman Comrade Jeli Nwanagum.
Giving his acceptance speech after the poll, Onofere hailed the association members for the peaceful election conducted and appreciated members for the successes recorded at the Congress.
While pledging to uphold the Union’s constitution to the letter, Onofere promised not to betray the trust placed on him by the Association.
Highlight of the 6th Triennial Branch delegate conference was a lecture tagged: “PIA as a Regulatory Legislation of the Nigerian Petroleum Industry – The Role of the PTI in Human Capacity Development”, delivered by Sir Amechi M. Nduanya.
