PSC Makes New Promotion, Appoints Six DIGs, 14 AIGs

The Police Service Commission on Monday announced the elevation of four Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and two Commissioners of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police.

They are former AIGs Abdul Danwawu, Lawal Shehu, Adeyemi  Ogunjemilusi, Peter Ogunyanwo, and ex-CPs Alex Okpara and  Celestine Okoye.

Ogunjemilusi and Okpara are, however, to proceed on pre-retirement leave while the other four would replace retired DIGs and also form part of the Police Management Team made up of seven DIGs.

The commission’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement in Abuja on Monday, also said the board promoted 14 CPs to the next rank of AIG.

The statement said the promotions were the highpoint of the commission’s 6th plenary meeting held in Abuja on Friday, and presided over by the Chairman, Musiliu Smith.

It said, “The commission also approved the promotion of 230 Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents, 11 Deputy Superintendents of Police to Superintendents and 211 Assistant Superintendents to Deputy Superintendents. Forty-one Inspectors were also promoted to ASP1.”
