A former Delta State commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Hope Eghagha, has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori over the judgement of the Supreme Court affirming his election victory in the March 18 governorship election in the state.
Eghagha, who is also a consultant on education to the state government, noted that the judgement of the apex court has reposed confidence in the nation’s judiciary.
A statement issued on Saturday in Sapele, the former commissioner maintained that with the legal tussle over, Governor Oborevwori can now focus on delivery dividends of democracy to the people of Delta.
“I join HE Sheriff Oborevwori to give thanks to God for victory at the Supreme Court. With the set of judgments recently given by the Supreme Court, it seems that the apex judicial institution is bent on redeeming its image in the eyes of Nigerians and the world at large. The courts should not replace the people in the democratic process.
“Governor Oborevwori can now focus fully on service delivery, a journey that he has already started energetically”, the statement partly read.
