The second edition of the Urhobo Global Webinar will hold tomorrow (Saturday) June 20, 2020 to discuss post COVID-19 outbreak with special focus on agriculture in Urhoboland.
The webinar being organised by Urhobo Webinar Group (UWG) is aimed at giving policy direction to the Urhobo people as the novel coronavirus continues to negatively impact the economy of the world.
According to the organisers, the online conference would hold at 3pm on Saturday.
Among the keynote speakers for the webinar which focuses on economic empowerment through agriculture as a comparative advantage are world renowned professor of agriculture, Prof. Malachy Akoroda from University of Ibadan (UI).
Other speakers include; a former Secretary General of the apex socio-cultural umbrella of Urhobo people, Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Olorogun Albert Akpomudje, Mr. Obaro Osah, Regional Manager, South South, Bank of Industry and Executive Director, Nigeria Export Import Bank (NEXIM), Hon. Stella Okotete.

The speakers shall be exploring Agriculture as a comparative advantage for the Urhobo Nation, enlightenment on the Agriculture potentials and land Security for Agriculture Production in Urhobo Land
According to organisers, “The group was formed following the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, which has killed tens of thousands of people across the world and disrupted social and economic lives of people.
“The first webinar focused on public health. The group is now moving on to tackle the longer term consequences of the pandemic: its impact on the economy of the Urhobo Nation especially on small to medium enterprises and broader impact on farmers, traders, artisans.
“Speakers will explore agriculture as a comparative advantage for the Urhobo Nation with a focus on the agriculture value chain in Urhobo Land, financing agriculture and scaling up the opportunities. We encourage all Urhobos to register and join the conversation.”
