Popular Niger Delta Activist, Tony Uranta, Is Dead

Renowned Niger Delta activist and Secretary of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Mr. Tony Uranta, is dead.

Uranta, who is also Executive-Secretary of the United Niger Delta Energy Development Security Strategy (UNDEDSS) passed on Wednesday.

He was said to have been ill before his demise.

He was also a member of the Pro-National Conference Organisations and Nigeria Intervention Movement.

The Nigerian Civil Society Movement in a statement on Wednesday confirmed the passage of the activist.

The statement issued by spokesperson for PRONACO, Sir Olawale Okunniyi said the deceased would greatly missed for his immense contribution to the growth of democracy and the Nigeria State.

The group said “Uranta’s various contributions towards the advocacy for constitutional restructuring of Nigeria amidst stiff resistance from those who benefit from the jaundice and corruptive political structure of Nigeria.”

It further recalled Uranta’s contributions to national conferences, especially the 2014 National Confab while promising to immortalise his legacy.
