Political Heavyweights From Delta, Others Storm Ibadan For Sola Adebayo Mother’s  90th Birthday Sept 7


 

 

All is now set for the 90th birthday celebration of Alhaja Rafatu Anike Ibiladun Adebayo in the ancient city of Ibadan in Oyo State on Saturday.

 

Alhaja Rafatu is the mother of veteran and influential Nigerian journalist, Mr. Sola Adebayo alias Asiwaju.

 

Sola Adebayo is one of the Nigerian journalists that commands the respect of the high and mighty in society, particularly among political gladiators in the country.

 

Adebayo, before retiring into private business in Delta State, worked for the Vanguard, Punch, National Mirror, Leadership, and other national newspapers in the country.

 

Ahead of the event slated for Saturday, September 7th, at the popular Jogor Centre along Liberty Road in Ibadan, political heavyweights across the country as well as journalists are already storming the third most populous city in Nigeria to celebrate the life of the nonagenarian.

 

The event is expected to be graced by serving and former governors, ministers, and members of both chambers of the National Assembly to the Oyo State capital.
It was gathered that Governors Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Mr. Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and others will grace the event.

Some ministers and members of the National Assembly from the Niger Delta region and the South West, including Senator Ede Dafinone, Senator Thomas Onowhakpo, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi and Barr. Ben Etanabene will also be on the ground to felicitate with the nonagenarian.
Business moguls, commissioners, and political appointees in Delta State will also grace the occasion.

Also expected to attend the event are editors and national and Delta State executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Legendary Yoruba music maestro, King Sunny Ade, will be performing as a special guest artiste, while the Urhobo Royal Ema Dancers of Agbarha Warri, versatile Ijaw, and colourful Itsekiri cultural troupes will also perform at the ceremony.

The event is slated to begin at 10am on Saturday.
