The Delta State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of over one hundred suspects during a gay wedding at a popular hotel in Ekpan, Uvwie, Delta State.

It said the suspects would be paraded on Tuesday morning. It was gathered that the suspects would be paraded at the Ekpan Divisional Police Headquarters in Effurun.

The confirmation followed an exclusive report earlier published by NIGER DELTA TODAY (NDT) Online.

This medium had reported that the suspects including the gay couple were currently cooling off in police custody in the state.

NIGER DELTA TODAY Online reports that the gay wedding had began when a crack team of the police stormed the venue and arrested the couple and their guests.

The incident happened over the weekend.

In 2014, the then President Goodluck Jonathan enacted anti-gay law which prohibit homosexual activities in the country.

The anti-gay law stipulates a 14-year prison term for anyone convicted of having sex with members of the same sex.
