A 35-year-old man, Jeff Nwaizugbe, has been arraigned before an Abakaliki Magistrate’ Court by police in Ebonyi State for allegedly sodomising a 13-year -old boy (name withheld).
The suspect was alleged to have forcefully had carnal knowledge of the boy through his anus at No: 44 Udemezue Street Abakalik on November 23, 2019.
The police prosecutor, Eze Ndukaku, told the court that the offence was punishable under section 214(a) of the criminal code, cap33 vol 1, laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria 2009.
The charge read, “That you, Jeff Nwaizugbe on November 23, 2019 at No: 44 Udemezue street Abakaliki, in the Jurisdiction of this honorable court did had unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim, aged 13, through his anus, which is against the order of nature, thereby committing an offense punishable under section 24(a) of the criminal code, cap33, vol1, laws of Ebonyi state of Nigeria 2009”.
Counsel to the accused person rendered a bail application to the court which was granted.
The Magistrate, Nnenna Onuoha, granted the accused person bail in the like sum of one million naira with one surety resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
Adding that the surety must be identified by a traditional ruler and must provide evidence of tax payment for three years.
The Suspect was taken back to the correctional centre waiting for him to meet his bail condition.
It was gathered that the victim suffered severe injuries in his anus after the incident and was currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Abakaliki.
