Owerri Catholic Bishop, Driver Abducted As Police Launch Manhunt For Kidnappers

Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Moses Chikwe. 

Bishop Chikwe was forcefully abducted alongside his driver on Monday in Owerri, Imo State capital.  

It was gathered the hoodlums allegedly whisked the victims away in the Bishop’s official vehicle. 

However, the Catholic Bishop’s vehicle was later discovered at the front of Archdiocese hours after the abduction.  

Meanwhile, the Imo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction, saying a rescue team has been launched to save the Bishop. 

The Police spokesperson, Orlando Ikeokwu, disclosed that the State Commissioner of Police had ordered the personnel of anti-kidnapping and Quick Intervention Units to tracked down the bandits. 

Ikeokwu said the command will ensure that the victims are safely rescued.
