Omo-Agege Campaign Organisation Laments Poor Governance In Delta

Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State

The Senator Ovie Omo Agege Campaign Organisation has lamented the gross negligence of key economic and development indicators in Delta State by successive governments.

The Campaign Organization flayed what it called ‘the deplorable state of development indices’ in the state following the choking economic grip from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the Director, Communications and Media Strategy of the Organisation, Ima Niboro, despite the huge oil and non-oil earnings into the coffers of the state, successive PDP governments have effectively ran the state aground.

Niboro, a former Presidential spokesman in the administration of Goodluck Jonathan and ex-Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), invited members of the public to soberly ponder on the aggravating negative social indicators in the state, including escalating crime rate, decaying infrastructure, sky-rocketing unemployment and overwhelming poverty that were eclipsing the state.

He said the APC governorship candidate and Deputy President of the Senate had considered these social indicators in the state and has accordingly challenged himself to commit to a career of working tirelessly on a ‘rescue mission’ by seeking the collaboration and support of men and women of goodwill across the state to join in the mission to rescue and reposition the state for economic and social renaissance.

Niboro stated that the path of backwardness and crippling debts to which successive PDP governments in the state has sentenced the state was ill deserved given the huge, abundant human and natural resources that the state had been blessed with.

He said Senator Omo Agege had developed a carefully thought-out roadmap to take the state out of its current distress and hopelessness.

Disclosing that the current PDP administration in the state had received over N770 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), Niboro wondered why far less endowed states in respect to receipts from the Federation Account and internally generated revenues such as Ebonyi and Borno States would be pulling landmark development projects back-to-back while Delta was nowhere to be found.

Arguing that the “deplorable socio-economic situation on ground was enough justification to act radically to reverse the steady degradation,” Niboro appealed to Deltans to rally under the unfolding political movement under Senator Omo-Agege to rescue the state, enthrone good governance and reposition the state as a leading economic powerhouse in the country.
