Senior Special Assistant to Gov Ifeanyi Okowa on Political Matters, Hon. Rawlings D. Andaye, has distributed wrappers, rice and cash gifts to indigenes of Kpakiama community in Bomadi council area of Delta state as part of activities marking the Christmas celebrations.
Beneficiaries, particularly women, danced to Ijaw traditional “Owigiri music” at the community hall, venue of the occasion, after receiving their gifts with prayers on Gov Okowa and his aide.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Akpokaboere Okaba, said “we are very happy and may God bless Andaye and Okowa, and we pray that they should do more and more in coming years.”
The community chairman, Mr Marcus Ayayeibo, however thanked Gov Okowa for the appointment given to their son, and also expressed appreciation for the gift items to people of the community.
PDP chairman Bomadi local government area, Prince Opuofoni, on his part commended Andaye for his commitment to the task given him by the governor barely a month ago, as he thanked the community for their unwavering support for the PDP in the 2019 general elections.
Andaye, however said the gesture was as a result of the appointment given him by Gov Okowa and pledged the administration’s commitment to serve the people in rural communities.
“The message I have for my people is that Gov Okowa is a good man who understands the plight of people in rural communities, and I urged you to support him to ensure the S.M.A.R.T Agenda is pursued to its fullness.
“This gesture has always been my way as a grassroots politician and I urged you to continue to maintain the peace to achieve full dividends of democracy under Gov Okowa”, he said.
