The Delta Central Senatorial Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the last election, Rt. Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro Esq., has commended the people of Delta Central Senatorial District for their massive support during the PDP primary and the general election.
Oboro who made this disclosure during a meeting of PDP leaders and electorates at her residence in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta state, assured her supporters that they will not wait for eight years before they will get to the promise land.
She said: “I am very grateful for the opportunity that you gave to me to become Delta Central Senatorial candidate of the PDP. If there is anything in history that you all and the rest of us out there have made which no one can erase, undo or take away from us is that a woman became the senatorial candidate of the PDP for the first time in Delta Central Senatorial District.
“And until the end of this tenure, elections have come and gone, litigations have been concluded, before we will do another primary election is between 2022 to 2023, and from now till that time you will continue to have one senatorial candidate, and it is me, nobody can take it anymore. It is already in history, and your names are there as those who made it happen, nobody can change it, no matter what they did, they couldn’t change it, I am still the candidate”.
She noted that she was encouraged by the political history of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa whom she said contested for governorship in 2007 but God said he should wait for eight years and he waited but today he is doing his second term.
“In Uvwie Local Government Area, my leader, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata did his first term and wanted to go for second term, God said he should wait, and he waited for eight years but today he is in the Delta State House of Assembly as the Deputy Chief Whip.
“Now let me talk about my elder brother, who is now representing Delta Central in the Senate and also the Deputy Senate President, for the eight years Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan was governor, my opponent was nowhere but today he is doing his second tenure at the senate. But I want you to know that our case is different, we will not wait for eight years, God knows what He is doing, He said my daughter wait and I will wait”.
She stated that because the party trusted her with its senatorial mandate, she decided not to disappoint or betray the trust hence she followed the electoral process to the end.
Oboro expressed appreciation to Delta Central PDP leaders, Local Government Chairmen of the PDP, women, youths, the media and electorates for the massive support, reiterating that God will soon grant them their wish.
