Nigerian Council Chairman, Others Reportedly Abducted By Bandits


 

Gunmen believed to be bandits have abducted the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government of Nasarawa State, Mr. Safiyanu Andaha.

 

According to a report by Daily Trust, the council boss was kidnapped alongside others including a renowned philanthropist in the local government, Mr. Adamu Umar popularly known as Maccido.

 

Our correspondent learnt that the council chairman and other were abducted along Andaha-Akwanga road on Monday evening by the gunmen.

 

A close aide to the chairman, who preferred anonymity, told our correspondent that the gunmen appeared from the bush and whisked away the victims to an unknown destination.

 

“The gunmen appeared from the bush and whisked away the kidnapped victims to yet to be identified destination,” the source said.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nasarawa State Command, DSP Rahman Nansel, could not be reached on the phone and he had yet to reply to a text message sent to him.
