NDDC Must Work For Niger Deltans Under Tinubu, Minister Charges Ebie-Led Board

President Bola Tinubu

The Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh has warned the new Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to either perform or get the boot.

Momoh challenged the newly inaugurated board on the need to change the narratives around the commission.

He gave the charge yesterday in Abuja while inaugurating the Chiedu Ebie led NDDC Board.

The minister explained that the current administration has a template to measure performance and any board that fails to measure up will be shown the way out.

“This administration is quite different from others because there is going to be a lot of supervision and monitoring in order for us to deliver. The president is not joking with this. From time to time, we are expected to present our reports.

“I want this one to be behind your mind so that as you start your work, you know exactly what is expected from you,” he said.

On the need to change the negative perspective about the Commission, Momoh said: “We are all aware that over time, there have been a lot of complaints about NDDC. I appeal that this time around, we need to change the narratives.

“We cannot continue to do the same thing in the same way and we expect that we are going to achieve a different result.  Collectively, as we are here, I think apart from the three members representing other zones, well of course, I regard them as friends of the Niger Delta, every one of you is from Niger Delta zone.”
