NDDC: Group Urges Buhari To Appoint Replacement For Late Director Of Finance From A’ Ibom

Youths of Akwa Ibom State have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint replacement of the late Director of Finance and Administration of the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Ibanga Etang from the state.

The youths under the aegis of Concerned Akwa Ibom Youths (CAIY) said though the people of the state were still mourning the transition of the former Director of Finance, appointing his replacement from the state, would best console the grieving people of the state.

Etang reportedly died of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic few weeks ago after briefly fallen ill.

A statement signed by the group’s chairman, Mr George Ediok and vice chairman, Theophilus Akpan pleaded with Mr. President to allow the present Interim Management Committee to complete the time allotted to for the forensic audit of the commission.

While pledging support for the administration of President, the youth body further requested for the completion of NDDC projects in the state.

“We are pleading with the president to replace the vacant office with an indigene of Akwa Ibom state. We thank Mr President for initially approving the appointment of our late kinsman to the office, and appointment of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs.

“The present IMC of NDDC is focused and effective. Since coming on board, there has been infrastructural explosion, occasioned by massive construction of roads, water projects that were abandoned in the Niger Delta states for decades.

“We appeal that the President should allow them complete their tenure so that they can complete and deliver on-going projects” the youths said.
