Urhobo youths from the 24 kingdoms have called on the Minister of State for Niger Delta, Chief Festus Keyamo (SAN) to support the nomination of Olorogun Bernard Okumagba as Managing Director into the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

In a statement signed by on behalf of the youths by Owhobevughe Matthias and Okuku Godwin, the Urhobo youths urged the minister to give Okumagba the necessary support that would facilitate his screening and subsequent swearing-in by President Muhammadu Buhari.

They pleaded with the Keyamo and other ministers from the Niger Delta region to see the appointment of Okumagba as will help fast-track socio-economic and infrastructural development in the region.

It added appealed that all Urhobos should join hands with their ethnic brothers to support Mr President’s nomination.

The statement emphasized that Okumagba’s appointment into the board is a huge plus to the Urhobo nation.

According to them, “Okumagba’s nomination into the Board of NDDC should be appreciated because it will move the Urhobo nation forward.”

The group also commended President Buhari for nominating Okumagba, an Urhobo from Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, to head the NDDC board saying, “it’s a square peg in a square hole.”

While thanking the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for his steadfastness in the pursuit of anything that could promote the Urhobo Nation, Delta State and Niger Delta in general, the youths urged other Urhobos in positions to emulate his doggedness towards moving Urhobo Nation forward.
