Napoli Agree To Loan Nigerian Striker To Galatasaray

Napoli have agreed to loan Nigerian striking hitman, Victor Osimhen, to Turkish’s Galatasaray barely last minutes to end of transfer window.

This comes just days after the 25-year-old move to Chelsea and Al-Ahli collapsed.

The striker was on the brink of a stunning deadline day switch to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea prepared a loan with an obligation to buy.

But Osimhen’s move eventually fell through after the Nigerian asked for a wage package worth over £300,000-a-week, according to Sky Sports.

This left Osimhen in limbo, with Saudi suitors Al-Ahli also activating their Plan B by completing a deal for Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

The Napoli marksman had given the green light to a transfer to Al-Ahli, in a deal that would have made him the highest paid Nigerian player in history.

New boss Antonio Conte had already signed a replacement in Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku.

And all parties burned their bridges when Osimhen was left out of Napoli’s squad list for the 2024-25 season.

However, it appears the forward will not be left rotting in the reserves until January as Turkish champions, Galatasaray, have made an approach to sign him on loan for the whole season.

According to Italian sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, the Istanbul club has offered to cover the entirety of Osimhen’s salary.

“Galatasaray have reached an agreement in principle with Napoli over a loan deal for Victor Osimhen!

“One year loan, salary covered as Napoli have accepted these conditions. Gala’s delegation to meet with Osimhen in Napoli in next hours for final green light to the move,” Romano wrote on social media.
