My Thanksgiving Was To Obey God’s Teachings – Oboro

Hon. Evelyn Oboro

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Delta Central Senatorial District in the last general elections, Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro has stated that her special thanksgiving at the Word of Life Bible Church International on Sunday was to obey God’s teachings in accordance with Thessalonians 5:18.

Oboro who made this known in a testimonial speech during the Special Thanksgiving, said she wondered why some guests she invited for the thanksgiving were asking what she was thanking God for.

According to her, “I contested several elections, three out of it into the National Assembly, I won two out of three and you are asking me what I am thanking God for? I was at the tribunal for the three elections, I won two out of the three and you are still wondering why I am thanking God. God said that in all things, irrespective of the circumstance, give thanks.

“Now let me draw your attention to what happened to a PDP woman leader in the last election held in Kogi state, she was burnt to death on election day. As I speak, she no longer have the opportunity to thank God like us. So I am here to return all glory, all grace and adoration to God Almighty”.

She pointed out that she will not forget the day she joined World of Life Bible Church International because before she joined, she was a broken woman but met God in the Church and was consoled by what the Bible thought her in Philippians 4:6 which read; “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”.

“I have a lot of request that I have made known unto God and I am here to give him thanks. First Thessalonians 5:18 further buttress it that “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ”. If I say I am a Christian, God is my father. He is my creator, I have faith in Him and I believe in Him and He has told me that in all circumstances I must give thanks and I have to obey. I am here to obey first Thessalonians 5:18”, she added.

Earlier, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor in his sermon said thanksgiving gives you access to God, hence the Lord said in Psalm 107:22 “And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

Pastor Oristsejafor told Rt. Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro, the first Urhobo female parliamentarian that the Lord loves her and cares about her deeply and as such cannot turn His back on her.
