Months After Returning To Gov Fubara’s Govt, Rivers Works Commissioner Resigns

Governor Sim Fubara

The commissioner for works in Rivers State, Engr. George-Kelly Alabo, has resigned from the State Executive Council for the second time.

Alabo announced his resignation in a letter addressed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Friday.

It was gathered that his resignation followed his appointment by President Bola Tinubu as the Director-General, Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).

President Tinubu had in a statement on Thursday announced the appointment of Alabo into the border agency.

Alabo in the letter to Governor Fubara thanked him for the opportunity to serve the people of Rivers under his government.

The works commissioner was among members of the State Executive Council loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, which resigned their appointments late last year over the feud between Fubara and Wike.

He, however, returned to his position following the presidential intervention of President Tinubu in December 2023.
