Mob Set Suspected Phone Thieves Ablaze In Delta

Two suspected phone thieves have been reportedly been burnt to death around Ovwian in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident, sources told NIGER DELTA TODAY occurred on Sunday near Ovwian Secondary School, Ovwian.

It was gathered that the hoodlums were attacked by mob after the two suspected armed robbers dispossessed a woman of her mobile set and unspecified amount of money.

Sources said the deceased were fleeing when residents apprehended them.

They were said to have been thoroughly beaten before the crowd in the area reportedly set them ablaze.

”It was her scream that alerted the mob. Road users and motorcyclists who came around then joined the angry mob to run after the thieves until they caught, beat them seriously and then set them ablaze”, a source who witnessed the incident told our correspondent.

When contacted, the Delta State Police Command, Mr Adeyinka Adeleke, confirmed the incident.

 Adeleke said, ”it is true. It has been confirmed that two persons were burnt to death yesterday (Sunday).”
