Ahead of the March 9th governorship election, President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday (tomorrow) visits Delta State for a townhall meeting with leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) towards wrestling the state from the control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
President Buhari, who is expected to be accompanied on the visit by APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Ameachi, APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and other national leaders of the party, will also meet traditional rulers in the state.
The townhall meeting will hold at the Conference Centre of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The meeting is expected to begin to at about 10am.
It was learnt President Buhari would also spend part of his time in Delta to resolve the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party and unite the warring factions during the visit.
Buhari is expected to be received by APC governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Prof. Pat Utomi, Engr. Victor Ochei and other leaders of the party in the state.
The Delta State APC Presidential Campaign’s spokesman, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, in a message announcing the visit, said Buhari would also meet with candidates of the APC in the February 23rd and March 9th elections in the state.
According to the statement, “This is to inform the general public that the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari, GCON, will visit Delta State for a townhall meeting.
“Those to attend include traditional rulers, opinion leaders, politicians, market men and women, National Assembly members, candidates for the March 9 elections, and stakeholders in the Nigerian and Delta Project.
“President Muhammadu Buhari appreciates Deltans for voting for him in the February 23 Presidential.”
