Labour Suspends Planned Strike As FG Reverses Hike In Electricity Tariff

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended the nationwide strike planned to commence today (Monday).

This was reached after marathon of meeting between leadership of labour and the Federal Government delegation led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, on Monday morning.

Labour had directed its members to embark on nationwide strike today over the recent hike in electricity tariff and pump price of fuel.

The Minister of State for Labour, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), disclosed this on his Twitter handle on after agreement was reached between Labour and the Federal Government team.

Keyamo announced that the Federal Government has suspended ‘temporally’ the recent hike in electricity tariff.

The minister also disclosed that both delegations agreed to sustained the deregulation of the petroleum sector.
