Kogi Commissioner Shot Dead, Council Chairman Missing After Gunmen Attack

Unknown arms-wielding gunmen have reportedly murdered Kogi State Pension Board Commissioner, Solomon Akeweje.

The commissioner was shot dead by the hoodlums on his way to Kabba on Saturday.

He was said to be returning from Illorin, Kwara State capital, when his was murdered.

The deceased was said to be travelling with the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Pius Kolawole.

Sources said Akeweje who was driving on his vehicle was ambushed and shot dead by his assassins around Eruku, some kilometers to Egb, while returning to Kogi State.

He died of the bullets wounds he reportedly sustained during the attack.

But Kolawole who was with him when the gunmen attacked them had not been seen since the incident happened.

Local sources claimed the council might have been kidnapped by their attackers.

Meanwhile, the Kogi police commissioner, Ayuba Ede, confirmed the killing of the pension board commissioner on Sunday.

CP Ede said the incident occurred at Eruku general area of Kwara State but stated that the command was already investigating the incident.
