Kidnapped Kagara Students, Staff Regain Freedom After Nine Days

kagara students released

The Staff and Students who were abducted from Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State, have been released.

Family sources confirmed the news to Daily Trust on Saturday.

The victims are currently on their way to Minna, the state capital, to meet with Governor Sani Bello.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits stormed the school last Wednesday, abducting 27 students and staff members.

While one student, Benjamin Doma, who tried to escape was gunned down, a member of staff luckily broke loose from captivity.

The attackers were reportedly dressed in military uniform in what looked like a premeditated attack.

The incident happened barely three days after 21 passengers heading to Minna, capital of Niger State, were abducted in broad daylight.

The passengers have since regained freedom.

Earlier in the week, Governor Bello accused the federal government of abandoning Niger in the quest to secure the release of the captives.
