The chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya, (APC, Kano) has described the Supreme Court verdict affirming the election victory of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State as a victory for the people of the state.
Gaya, who represents Albasu, Ajingi and Gaya Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, however enjoined Ganduje to continue in his quest to meet the expectations of the electorate in the development of the state.
The lawmaker stated this in a congratulatory message made available to NIGER DELTA TODAY on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court had in a ruling on Monday affirmed the election of Ganduje of the APC as the duly elected governor of Kano State in the March 9 governorship election in the state.
Gaya, while congratulating the governor, urged him to bringing more developmental projects across the state.
According to him, “The affirmation of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as Kano State Governor by the Supreme Court of Nigeria is a pointer to the fact that the judiciary still remained a truly independent arm that is consolidating on our democracy and raising the hope of the Nigerians.
“Light always shine over darkness looking at the verdicts of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Kano, Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna and finally Supreme Court of Nigeria upheld Ganduje’s victory.
He further said that PDP failed to demonstrate any cogent reason to warrant the setting aside of both the judgments of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal which had both affirmed the victory of Ganduje and APC in the election.
Hon. Gaya, however, prayed that the Almighty Allah would continue to protect and keep Governor Ganduje in good health to enable him deliver on his campaign promises for the people of Kano State.
