Tension As Former Niger Delta Militant Leader, Egberipapa, ‘Arrested’

A former Niger Delta militant leader, High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich, popularly known as Egberipapa, has been reportedly abducted by gunmen said to be dressed in army uniform.

 

The men in military uniform were said to kill two of his lieutenants during the raid of Egberipapa’s residence at his Usokun country-home in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

 

The incident was said to have sparked tension in the community as sources claimed that former militant was arrested by the military.

 

Community sources who confirmed the arrest of the former warlord said the armed-wielding men stormed his home around 3am on Monday.

 

Two of his boys were killed, while the former militant was whisked away to an unknown destination.

 

According to a report by the Nation, the operation was carried out by the military, adding that some army branded vehicles including an Armoured Personnel Carrier were used for the operation.
