Tajudeen Abbas Elected As House Of Reps’ Speaker


Honourable Tajudeen Abbas has emerged as the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 10th National Assembly.

He defeated other contestants including the immediate Deputy Speaker Hon Ahmed Wase to emerged victorious.

A total of 359 lawmakers out of 360 were present for the election.

Abbas was the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.

The open ballot system was adopted for the election.

Tajudeen polled a total of 353 votes against the three votes scored by Wase while Aminu Jaji polled three votes.
